Dear Juno,

My name is Mackenzie and I am a Senior at Foothill Technology High School. I agree 100% with your decision to put your baby up for adoption because you are so young and becoming a mother is a huge responsibility. You did a great thing by giving your baby to Vanessa because she will be a very kind and loving mom and will have the time and resources to give your son everything he needs.

The only thing I disagree with about your decision is not wanting any contact with your baby at all. I know that seeing your baby with someone else can be hard, but later on in life your child is going to be curious about who his biological parents are and what they look like. Both of my parents were adopted as babies and were both put into loving homes. They have always been curious about their birth parents and if they look like them or have the same interests as them. I think that in the future you should consider meeting your son.

I am so glad that you decided not to have an abortion because even though I am pro choice, and I support the 14th amendment on a women’s right to choose, I believe that adoption is a much better option. Both of my parents biological parents were teens when they had them and they probably thought about having an abortion. If they would have done that I would have never been born. I know that If I ever became pregnant I could not have an abortion, but I respect anyone who chooses to have one. Abortion in my opinion should be the last option because life is precious, but ultimately it is your decision in the end.

Best wishes,
Mackenzie
